Arkansas Highway 100: Maumelle Blvd – North in Maumelle

Take a short but meaningful ride through the heart of Maumelle as we follow the northern stretch of Arkansas Highway 100—better known to locals as Maumelle Boulevard. This two-mile segment serves as a northern gateway for the city, connecting neighborhood centers and commercial corridors with the broader state highway network. While modest in length, this stretch of AR-100 captures the character of Maumelle’s planned suburban charm, with a mix of wooded buffers, local shops, and civic touchstones anchoring the route.

Our journey begins at the intersection of Commerce Drive and Maumelle Boulevard, where AR-100 officially resumes its northbound course. This section of the road feels calmer than the busier southern portion, with traffic thinning out and the landscape softening. The divided roadway is lined with established trees and well-maintained medians, offering a visual reminder that Maumelle was designed with aesthetics and livability in mind.

Continuing north, the surroundings shift from commercial development to more natural and residential zones. Wide sidewalks and bike lanes hug the road on either side, part of the city’s extensive trail system. Small pocket parks, quiet cul-de-sacs, and side roads leading into neighborhoods trace the city’s suburban layout. We pass several shopping centers that cater to daily needs—grocery stores, pharmacies, and local eateries—before the road gently curves northwest to meet the overpass spanning the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. This bridge, elevated above the tracks, marks a subtle threshold: we’re leaving the more urbanized center of Maumelle and heading toward the edge of town.

Just after crossing the railroad, the route straightens out for its final approach to AR-365, where Maumelle Boulevard ends at a signalized T-intersection. From here, travelers can turn north toward Mayflower or south toward North Little Rock. It’s a fitting conclusion to this brief but integral stretch of highway—one that ties Maumelle into the broader regional grid while maintaining the identity of a carefully crafted suburb. For residents and travelers alike, this short segment of AR-100 offers more than just connectivity—it reflects the balance of growth, planning, and quality of life that defines modern Maumelle.
